Michelle is quick-witted, honest, and an animal lover. When she’s not bringing home another pet, she enjoys time with family and friends. She appreciates a good book, loves live music, and likes to keep up on the latest trends – although she has an eye for vintage pieces. As her mother and mentor, Mary Lou Roberts, said, “I’m ready to roll up my sleeves and go to work for you!

If you check Michelle’s listings and don’t see anything, it’s because houses are selling fast. There will be more coming soon.

About Michelle

Michelle grew up in Lawrence, attended Lawrence schools, and graduated from KU with a degree in Crime and Delinquency. While still in high school and later in college, Michelle managed a 40-unit apartment complex. In fact, her exposure to property management and real estate has been life-long since her parents, Lewis and Mary Lou Roberts, were both in real estate. Michelle has vivid memories of tagging along, helping stage homes, and hearing them talk about “taking care of the customer.”

Michelle was employed with Douglas County Court Services for nearly 25 years. She served as the director of Volunteers in Court, as a Court Services Officer, and for the last 17 years, as the Chief Court Services Officer. She has also served on the Executive Board for the State of Kansas and various other boards, such as Domestic Violence and Mental Health. She was recognized as an Outstanding Employee for the court and awarded CSO of the Year by the State of Kansas. Years as a Supreme Court Certified Mediator honed her skills as a negotiator. Michelle is a problem-solver, always strives for excellence, and is known for thinking “outside the box.”

She considers her family her proudest accomplishment. She has been married to Danny Freeman since 1997, and they have two bright, talented daughters, Lexie and Kenzie. Her husband Danny, a Lawrence native, is also a realtor with Stephens Real Estate and was privileged to work side-by-side with her mother, Mary Lou, for many years.

Michelle is excited to carry on the family tradition of serving the Lawrence community. Whether you’re in the market to buy, sell, or you’re undecided, give Michelle a call. She’ll be happy to listen, advise, and get to work for you!

Michelle is a 2020 Lawrence Board of Realtors Rising Star and an Accredited Buyer’s Representative (ABR).

What clients say about Michelle

Caitlyn and I could not have chosen a better realtor. As first time home buyers our naivety gave us some drawbacks. Michelle made it easy! She’s SUPER easy to work with, informative, great at communicating, and straight forward. “Can’t” doesn’t exist in her vocabulary. She has the drive, determination, and connections to get it done. From my growing family and me…choose Michelle!

Michelle helped navigate the sale of my home, while I was out of State. She is so detail oriented, explained things to me, helped with a contractor when I couldn’t be there and completely kept us informed. We LOVE, LOVE Michelle. She really helped ease my anxiety when I couldn’t be there in person. The transaction was seamless. We appreciated her help more than I can say.

Moving from another State can be stressful, but from the beginning, Michelle LISTENED to what we needed and started sending information. She was very responsive and answered all of our questions. I can’t recommend her highly enough. I also made a new friend!
